マントヴァーニのミュージカル・映画音楽集！
「Song Hits from Theatreland」（1958）と「Carnival」(1961)の２on１CD。
どちらもミュージカル及び映画音楽を収録したアルバムである。特に前者は、「魅惑の宵」「ストレンジャー・イン・パラダイス」「魅せられて」「セ・マニフィック」などを収録していて、マントヴァーニの代表作とも言えるアルバムだ。
「Carnival」は今回が初のＣＤ化である。「So in love」「Shall we dance」など渋めの名曲が収められている。マントヴァーニのアルバムの中では、印象の薄いものであったが、今回聴き直してみると、なかなかいい。

なお、「Song Hits from Theatreland」については、最近、「Fine and Mellow」社から同一内容のCDがリリースされた。「Song Hits from Theatreland＋Film Encores」(fm６０１）だ。Vocalion盤との比較だが、音質は「Fine and Mellow」盤の方がかなり優れている。
