 vibes（ヴィブラフォン）が加わってメロウなサウンド。スムースジャズ？かも。「Talkin' About !」のメンバーにヴィブラフォンのボビーハッチャーソンを加えた構成。グリーン（g）＋ラリーヤング（org）のコテコテに対して、知性派の代表ボビーハッチャーソン（vibes）が加わることでエルビンジョーンズ（ds）のニュートラルなグルーヴが引き出され、完成度の高いアルバムになりました。おおっ、と唸ったりするようなところはありませんが、不思議と何回も聴いてしまうのです。 ブルーノートから次々に発売されたアルバムの中、このアルバムの頃がグリーン×ライオンの一番オイシイとこらへんかと思います。 Definite Five StarsThis is the best of four albums the 3 core members of the group put out. Those three core members are Grant Green, Elvin Jones and Larry Young. Bobby Hutcherson also appears in a very important role on vibes. Hutcherson's vibes add a very atmospheric feel to the music, and his solos are contemplative abd tasteful. In fact, the solos of all of the members can be described with the same adjectives. Green, as leader, is laid back as usual, but Jones and Young are also restrained relative to some of their other recording (and I must add that I have absolutely nothing against Evin Jones or Larry Young going off), and the band plays a cohesive unit. I can only describe this music as beautiful, and every time I listent to this CD, I wish the music could go on and on forever. CHeck out the other albums by Green, Young and Jones, in particular Into Somethin' by Larry Young, if you want my advice. グラント・グリーンの佳作の１つグラント・グリーンのリーダー作の中で一番マッタリした作品である。 オルガンのコルトレーンと呼ばれたラリー・ヤングも控えに徹しており、グリーンの演奏が十二分に楽しめます。また、ボビー・ハッチャーソンの演奏にフリー色が無く、淡々とした演奏がかえって心ひかれるものがあります。 |
