This book groups all the particles that have similar functions and compares them. At the end of each section there are exercises for you complete to check your understanding. These exercises are what make it better than Naoko Chino's other particle book, "All ABout Particles", which doesn't have any questions to test your understanding. I recommend that you use this book once you have learnt some basic Japanese from a textbook, such as "Japanese for Everyone". It is often difficult to know what particles to use where, but "How to tell the difference between Japanese particles" makes it all very clear. The book also has the example sentences written firstly in Japanese (kanji etc), so you can also improve your kanji understanding. It's perfect for taking you from the beginner to the intermediate level of Japanese. |
